Topic Brainstorm for Online StoryBook

Brainstorm

While thinking of a possible topics to write about for my online storybook this semester Alice in Wonderland is still on my mind. While scrolling through the link again looking I saw Hawaiian Mythology, that made me think huh. Still again there is good ole Robin Hood. Then I saw another new one that I did not see last week, The Women of Camelot. All of these seem super interesting to me. So far this PROJECT has been the easiest to narrow down possible topics for.

Alice in Wonderland

I am interested in the topic because it is a story that I already know, somewhat. As I have mentioned before I have read the book many, many years ago now and I think it will be good to revisit and make my own a classic that I already know. I would like to learn more about the original characters and the original story, so I can truly appreciate the remakes from this classic.

For this project I would stick to the classic main characters. But the time period will be in the 21st century with all the technology that we know and love: cell phones, WiFi, editing software on computers, etc. So she will still have her cell phone as she goes into Wonderland and can take pictures while she is there but she cannot send out or share them until she is back home. With that her parents, friends, and social media outlets will think that she has just edited another picture of video. With that she will struggle with what is real and what isn't real. I will hopefully include a small handful of her adventures with a 21st century twist on them.

Hawaiian Mythology

Goddess Pele
Oh Hawaii, place of beautiful beaches and sunshine. I went to Maui after graduating high school and have been wanting to go back ever since. I know very little if anything at all about Hawaiian Mythology, which I could end up surprising myself and know more than what I think I do. If anything I will learn something new from this project if this is the route that I choose. I would have to do a great deal if research before I would start telling the story. I would try my best to stay authentic to the culture and stories but hopefully give it a fun and interesting twist.

Robin Hood

This is another classic that I know roughly the background. I would again here stick with the original characters, I feel like that is important in retelling a story. I feel like I would lean more towards the stories of Robin Hood and Maid Marian. This one I feel like I would keep back in a more 'classical' time period. I would like to learn more about Robin Hood, because the basics I have now is that he stole from the rich and gave back to the poor and he was an excellent with the bow and arrow.

The Women of Camelot

Again another classic that I know the basics of King Author and his round table, but this is interesting in that it is about the Women of Camelot. From other readings I have done for my major, lots of history reading, the women seem to be left out a great deal in the stories. Yes we know some about the ladies of the stories, but what about the story from their point of view. I think that the point of view from Guinevere would be interesting, she is the wife of King Arthur and I feel like she would have been very involved.
